It’s 1976 and Switzerland is experiencing one of the worst droughts in history. Thirteen-year-old Gus usually spends his holidays reading comic books, helping his father who has invested his entire savings in a modern battery henhouse, and running free with Mado, the wild child from the village. However, Gus is forced to grow up fast and leave behind the innocence of childhood as the unforgiving sun causes emotions to swell within his family. Nature is withering, and Gus’s family unit splinters while waiting for the eagerly anticipated thunderstorms which will sweep across the tired and worn countryside, washing a whole world away.
